The reason I became an optometrist is: It perfectly combines my math and science background with my love of helping people. My favorite part of helping my patients is: I have a special interest in fitting a wide variety of contact lenses, especially for patients with complex prescriptions and visual demands. It gives me great pleasure to help people see their best! In my spare time, I enjoy: Spending time with family and friends, swimming, playing tennis, and enjoying the outdoors.

About Dr. Tanya Malhotra

Dr. Tanya Malhotra grew up in Toronto, Canada, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. She then travelled to Philadelphia to attend the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, during which time she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Malhotra graduated magna cum laude as a Doctor of Optometry with clinical honors in neuro-ophthalmic disease and primary care, and went on to complete her ocular disease residency at Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates in Maryland. During her residency, she presented at the American Academy of Optometry and also achieved Diplomate status from the American Board of Optometry. She worked in a privately owned Ophthalmology practice in Delaware for several years after residency, before relocating back to Maryland to join MyEyeDr. Her practice includes full-scope comprehensive eye care with an emphasis on ocular disease. Her areas of special interest include dry eye as well as emergency care. She enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

The reason I became an optometrist is: I grew up with vision issues since childhood and knew since childhood that I wanted to help others that have vision challenges as well. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Knowing that I have been able to make even a small difference in their quality of life.
