Dr. Bruce Mathie received his optometric education at The Ohio State University graduating with a Doctor of Optometry degree. He is a member of the Ohio Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, and serves as a clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Mathie practices full scope optometry with a special interest in the treatment and management of ocular disease and glaucoma. Locally, he is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Faternal Order of Eagles and BPO Elks.

DR. Ajay Mattu

About Dr. Ajay Mattu

Dr. Mattu was born in Dallas, Tx but grew up locally in Gladewater. His family has been involved in the Gladewater/Union Grove community since they moved here in 1999. He graduated from Gladewater High School in 2011, his time there included excelling academically as well as being a multi-sport athlete. Dr. Mattu made the long trek to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University where he majored in exercise and sports sciences. During his time in college, he held various leadership positions for the service-based fraternity, Delta Epsilon Psi. His upbringing molded him to put emphasis on the value of servicing the community, which lead to the easy choice for him to stay here in Longview. Dr. Mattu graduated optometry school in 2021 from InterAmerican University in Puerto Rico. He was fortunate to have the opportunity to learn Spanish, which allows him to better serve his local community here in Texas. His knowledge of recent technology and literature in the optometric field allows him to keep East Texas up to date with the latest advancements in eye care. In his spare time, Dr. Mattu enjoys spending time at home with his family or playing with his German shepherds. He’s an avid sports fan and enjoys traveling to Dallas to catch some Mavericks games when he’s able to. You can occasionally see Dr. Mattu supporting his younger sister at various Union Grove High School events.

James Maul, OD

DR. James Maul

About Dr. James Maul

Dr. James Maul earned his undergraduate Engineering degree at The Ohio State University and then continued on to The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Graduating in 1982, he attained membership in Beta Sigma Kappa, the Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Maul has taken an active role in community activities. Through membership in Lions and VOSH, he continues to help facilitate much needed vision care for the underprivileged, both in Norwalk and in Nicaragua. In addition to practicing primary eyecare, Dr. Jim has a particular interest in treating and educating patients dealing with diabetes and glaucoma. He has had two articles published in professional journals and is dedicated to bringing the latest technology and research available to his patients. Dr. Maul is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, and is a past governor of the North Central Optometric Association.

Dr. Brian Mays received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University. After serving specialized clinics in Low Vision and Primary Health Care in Indianapolis, Dr. Mays completed his residency in Ocular Disease at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta. While at Omni, Dr. Mays served as chief resident over 25 interns from optometry colleges across the nation. He is certified in therapeutic treatment of ocular infections and disease, including glaucoma. He has served on several research panels investigating new visual field testing and contact lens materials. His research on a rare form of cataract and its detection was featured at SECO. He is the recipient of Ciba Vision's Innovation in Contact Lens and Patient Care Award. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.

Dr. McClelland trained at the Southern College of Optometry, where he specialized in contact lens fitting. He uses the latest technology, but also considers every patient’s history and visual requirements. Dr. McClelland knows how important your vision is to your quality of life. ‘I see each patient as a person, not just another set of eyes,” he said. Raised in Pennsylvania, Dr. McClelland is a graduate of The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. He is grateful to be raising his children in Fort Collins. Dr. McDaniel received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston in 1993. He is a therapeutic and glaucoma-certified OD to patients of all ages. As an eye doctor, Dr. McDaniel provides a wide variety of vision services, including prescribing glasses and contact lenses, vision therapy, diabetic eye exams, diagnosing and managing eye diseases, and more. When Dr. McDaniel is not seeing patients, he enjoys outdoor activities (cycling, hiking, etc.), traveling, and spending time with his wife and three children.
