Clinical Certifications and Specialties: Primary Care Optometrist. The reason I became an optometrist is: Growing up, I used to think I wasn’t good at school. When I got my first pair of glasses in 7th grade, I became the top student in my class till college through high school. I made a pledge since then to make a positive impact in people’s life. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Helping patients see better to improve their activities of daily living and diagnosing possible life-threatening conditions in the eyes. Dr. Gerald Eisenstatt is a graduate of Southern College of Optometry, and has been in practice for 35 years. Dr. Eisenstatt is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and past president of the West Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians. Dr. Eisenstatt retired as an Associate Professor of Practice Management at Southern College of Optometry where he received the distinguished Teacher of the Year award from the senior class for several years. He was also the Director of the Hayes Center for Practice Excellence, and a member of the Practice Management Educators Association. Dr. Eisenstatt received his M.B.A. from Christian Brothers University in 2011. He is married to Lynn and they have two sons, Brian and Michael.
