About Dr. Ganhan Ewers

Dr. Ewers is originally from Portland, Indiana. Her early interest in optometry led to two Associate of Science degrees in Optometric Technology and Opticianry at Indiana University. She continued on and received her Bachelor's degree at Indiana University, Bloomington and earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the prestigious IU School of Optometry in 1995. While enrolled as a graduate student she was an Assistant Instructor for three years and Assistant Supervisor of interns and technicians in the Atwater Clinic Dispensary. Dr. Ewers was awarded Member of the Year by Alpha Phi Omega. Dr. Ewers has over 15 years in practice and 22 years in the optical field. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Indiana Optometric Association, Central Indiana Optometric Society and Sports Vision Section of the AOA. Her professional interests include medical optometric care, contact lenses and sports vision training.

About Dr. Jennifer Faber

Dr. Jennifer Faber is originally from Auburn, Indiana. She attended Purdue University for herr Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. During her internship year, Dr. Faber partook in extended ophthalmology training at two distinguished practices- Eye Associates of Southern Indiana and Eye Surgeons of Indiana. Dr. Faber quotes, “Being active, outdoors lovers that my family and I are, we were ecstatic about moving to not only North Carolina, but Asheville! We have always wanted to settle down in this area of the state.” Dr. Faber lives with her husband Ryan along with their two small children, Brinley and Hudson. She also adds, “In my free time, I love to be with family and friends, go camping or to the beach, go hiking, enjoy live music, or attend sporting events.”

Vision is our primary sense for interacting with our world. Resolving impairments and improving performance is most satisfying. How are you helping patients live their best lives? Preserving and enhancing vision performance to allow the maximum possible enjoyment of any lifestyle and activity. What does providing a transformational eyecare experience mean to you? I want my patients to leave with a significantly better understanding of what it takes to achieve vision performance that allows them to thrive. How are you impacting your local community? Dr. Fach co-founded Champions Prison Ministries in 2004 and has been in continuous service to the Texas prison system as a Bible teacher and worship leader. Hobbies/Interests: Dr. Fach is an accomplished nature photographer, bicyclist, hiker, camper and grandfather. He and his wife Christine have four grown sons and 19 grandchildren.

My family has been plagued by glaucoma but not only them. Myself included. I’ve been on drops for over 10 years. I’ll be a forever doctor and a forever patient. How are you helping patients live their best lives? I show my patients how I can improve the quality of their vision in every aspect of their lives. From the morning to the night and from distance to up close and everything in between. What does providing a transformational eyecare experience mean to you? It’s special to be a part of transforming my patients eyecare experience because they place their trust and their families trust in me to take good care of them. It’s rest assured that I have their best interest as my top priority. How are you impacting your local community? I will occasionally put on screenings for local churches. About Dr. Derek Feifke

Dr. Feifke earned his first Optometry degree from the Witwatersrand Technicon in Johannesburg, South Africa. After teaching and practicing in South Africa for seven years, he emigrated to the US where he completed the Doctor of Optometry Program at the New England College of Optometry in Boston. Dr. Feifke believes in giving back and has been actively involved with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity), both as a fundraiser and active participant in numerous missions to Nicaragua, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Feifke is past president of the New England chapter of VOSH. Dr. Feifke is a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, as well as a member of both the American Optometric Association and the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists. In his spare time, Dr. Feifke is passionate about keeping fit and has run seven Boston Marathons. Due to a running injury, he has taken to bike riding and takes part in many biking events in New England and afar. His hobbies include gardening, playing chess with his sons and making that perfect espresso!

I have been practicing Optometry for over 30 years. I believe my experience as a Board-Certified Therapeutic Optometrist has enabled me to continue to provide not only comprehensive eye exams for adults and children, contact lens fittings, and evaluations of binocular visual dysfunctions, but also, thorough diabetic eye evaluations and the treatment and management of various ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. I am also astute in providing therapeutic care for more acute conditions such as conjunctivitis and ocular trauma, such as removing a foreign object, such as metal flakes, out of the eye. Because of my genuine concern for my patient’s well being, I treat them as if they were my friend or family member. This allows the patient to feel comfortable with me and therefore confident in my ability to provide exceptional care. Hobbies/Interests: Learning the guitar, motorcycle riding, well, trike riding, playing with my dogs and hanging out with my family.

Dr. Anthony Paul Ficarra is an optometrist. He is a graduate from State University of New York College of Optometry. He completed his Fellowship and then served as a faculty member. Among the most cherished award he has gotten is the Florida’s Senator’s Proclamation by Senators Silver and Webster: Recognizing the outstanding contribution of Dr. Ficarra and Faculty at NOVA Southeaster College of Optometry in improving the lives of children in Florida for service provided to 10,000 at risk children and in-need children (that is a significant impact in the classroom, in the sports teams, improved FCAT scores, and decreased juvenile behavior problems). He has lectured and done blogs on Diabetes Eyecare. He enjoys playing soccer, traveling and volunteering. He has volunteered in Mexico, Honduras and in RAM clinics in Virginia.
