Q: What's the difference between vision insurance and medical insurance?
A: Vision insurance typically covers routine eye exams and materials like glasses and contacts. Medical insurance may cover eye care related to medical conditions like glaucoma, diabetes, or infections.  MyEyeDr. accepts both vision and medical insurance and can help determine which one is appropriate for the care you need.

Q: Do I need to bring my insurance card to my appointment?
A: Yes, please bring your vision insurance card and a valid photo ID to your appointment.  If you don’t have a vision insurance card our team can help look up your vision insurance details- please contact your MyEyeDr. office before your exam to make sure we have the information needed to find your coverage.

Coverage Questions

Q: What does my vision insurance typically cover?
A: Most vision plans cover an annual eye exam and provide allowances toward glasses frames, lenses, or contact lenses. Coverage details vary by plan- MyEyeDr. can look up your specific coverage and help you understand which products and services are covered.

Q: How often can I get new glasses or contacts with my insurance?
A: Most vision plans provide benefits for glasses or contacts once every 12-24 months, depending on your specific plan.  Contact your MyEyeDr. office to confirm whether you are currently eligible for new glasses and contacts.

Q: Are designer frames covered by insurance?
A: Most insurance plans provide a frame allowance that can be applied to any frames, including designer options.  MyEyeDr. offers a wide selection of designer brands you love so you can use your insurance benefits on a pair you love. You'll pay the difference for frames that exceed your allowance.
