MyEyeDr. Raises Over $14,000 for Children’s National Hospital
Throughout the month of March, 54 MyEyeDr. offices in the Washington, D.C., metro-area raised $14,367 for the Children’s National Hospital through its Make March Matter campaign by donating $1 for every retinal photo taken.
Each year, members of the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia community have an opportunity to support their favorite businesses and Make March Matter for the 230,000 kids cared for by Children’s National. The proceeds raised improve children’s health and ensure every child, from every background and walk of life, has the opportunity to receive exceptional care.
“For the 14,367 patients that opted to have a retinal exam in March, we’d like to think this is the best selfie they’ve ever taken,” said Sue Downes, CEO of MyEyeDr. “Not only did this initiative encourage our patients to make time for their eye health, but simultaneously support children in need.”
Retinal imaging creates a digital image of the retina, blood vessels and optic nerve located at the back of the eye, providing optometrists with a clear picture that can help assist with early diagnosis of systemic health problems by showing changes within the structure of the eyes.
Businesses and consumers alike used #MakeMarchMatterDC to showcase their support of the campaign and spread the word on social media.
