Therefore, I chose to become an optometrist. My favorite part of helping my patients is: The “that’s amazing” expression that lights up a patient face when they see better brings me joy. As a college undergraduate I became interested in Neuroscience and entertained the thought of pursuing a career in vision research. After working in a lab while enrolled in a master’s program at Northeastern University I realized that I was meant to work with people providing medical care and not to be working with laboratory animals. My favorite part of helping my patients is: This is easy. It is impossible to overstate the value of the services we provide. Whether it is providing the best visual solution for a patient or diagnosing and treating ocular disease we are positively impacting our patient's lives each day. I still get very excited when I create a novel solution to a patient's problem, thinking "outside of the box". I have had the privilege of being able to work in the same office since 1983 and have developed significant relationships with generations of my patients and their families. Our patients really seem to appreciate the care and attention we give to them. In my spare time, I enjoy: Listening to all kinds of music, especially classic rock, jazz, and bluegrass. Playing the saxophone. Cooking with my wife. Visiting my children and grandchildren. Studying American History, including visiting Civil War Battlefields. Watching the Baltimore Ravens.
