For more than four decades, Dr. Schatz has remained on the leading edge of technology, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, to provide comprehensive medical eye and vision care to every patient. He believes its equally important to educate patients, and to provide an explanation of each diagnosis and treatment plan, as it relates to their specific needs and goals. Additionally, Dr. Schatz is known for his friendly, professional demeanor, his sense of humor, and his extensive experience in the contact lens field of practice. Personal: I’ve been privileged to have been providing eye care to my patients in College Park, and the surrounding areas and counties for more than forty years. Most rewarding to me, is that I’m still providing eye care to many of these patients, and their families, since early in my career. It’s especially thrilling when a patient comes in who I first treated when they were 10 years old, and now they come in with they’re whole family, including their 10 year old child! Professional Achievements and Associations: Member of American Optometric Association; Member of Virginia Optometric Association; Member of Tidewater Optometric Association, the reason I became an optometrist is: I knew in high school that I wanted to pursue a career that was science or medically related. Since I had been wearing glasses myself from the age of 6 I knew that good vision was an important part of my life. I decided to investigate what was required to qualify for Optometry School. I have never looked back. As an Optometrist I play a vital role in eye care. Not only do I prescribe glasses and contact lenses, but I detect and manage eye diseases and disorders of the visual system. My favorite part of helping my patients is: I love being able to interact with and learn about so many different people every day. I especially love seeing my patients back year after year and watching their families grow and change. In my spare time, I enjoy: Cycling, walking, boating, gardening, and hanging out with my husband and three dogs.

Dr. Schlesman is a primary eye care physician that specializes in cornea and contact lenses. Dr. Schlesman received her undergraduate degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida in 2019 where she played DII collegiate volleyball. She graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2023. While in optometry school, Dr. Schlesman completed her externship training at The Villages VA Outpatient Clinic and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the #1 Eye Hospital in the United States. She completed a residency in Primary Care with emphasis in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, where she had extensive training in full-scope primary eye care as well as managing complex corneal conditions and performing contact lens fittings, including soft and all specialty contact lens types. She looks forward to taking care of all your eye care needs!

Getting to know them and their families and providing customized eye care solutions for their individual vision demands. Hobbies/Interests: Spending time with my husband and children, golfing, baking, music.

The reason I became an optometrist is: I have bad eyesight myself and had to go to my family optometrist a lot growing up. My optometrist became a mentor and friend and I ended up working in the field and eventually going to optometry school. It’s a great feeling to help people see! My favorite part of helping my patients is: Meeting lots of new people and getting to know them over the years. Making a difference in someone’s life. In my spare time, I enjoy: Cooking, hiking, spending time outdoors or at the beach, enjoying a glass of wine with my friends.

Dr. Schneid’s educational journey reflects a solid commitment to healthcare and optometry. After attending the University of South Florida and the University of Maryland, College Park, he pursued his passion for eye care at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Vision Care and a Doctor of Optometry degree there. This solid foundation in science and clinical practice equips him to make a significant impact in eye care and enhance the vision health of his community. Dr. Schneid is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Maryland Optometric Association, showcasing his commitment to professional growth and community service. His involvement with the InfantSEE program and the Lion’s Club reflects his dedication to providing essential care, especially to needy children. Practicing in Takoma Park, he’s known for his outgoing personality and caring demeanor, making his patients feel comfortable and valued. He accepts new patients, welcoming the community to experience his dedication to high-quality eye care. Outside of his practice, Dr. Schneid resides in Maryland with his wife, and they enjoy a variety of hobbies together, including traveling, photography, gardening, cooking, and practicing Aikido. These diverse interests enrich his life and foster meaningful connections with others

A native of Michigan, Dr. Marcy Schultenover attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for her undergraduate degree. While completing her graduate degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, she had externships in the Pediatric and Low Vision Specialties Clinic in the New England Eye Institute in Boston, MA, the Newington, CT VA Hospital, and the Dorchester House Community Clinic in Dorchester, MA. She holds current memberships in the American Optometric Association (AOA), the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the AOA and the New Hampshire Optometric Association. Dr. Schultenover is a certified provider in CooperVision’s Brilliant Futures™ Myopia Management program. She’s health-focused and tries to make exercise and healthy eating a priority, often cooking with her daughter who has an affinity for ethnic dishes. Dr. Schultenover loves to travel and plans family trips that offer a variety of different experiences, cultural exposure, and cuisines.

Dr. Schultz grew up in Coppell, Texas and earned a Bachelor’s degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry and graduated in 2019 with Summa Cum Laude honors. During her education, Dr. Schultz received several awards from her peers and faculty. She received the Excellence in Medical Optometry Award and was selected for membership into the Gold Key Optometric Society for being an outstanding student leader in the Student Texas Optometric Association. Dr. Schultz is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist who has special interests in primary vision care, contact lenses, ocular disease, and myopia control. During her clinical rotations, she trained extensively in the art of specialty contact lens evaluations, including scleral lenses and multifocal soft contact lenses. She pursued extra training in the management of pre/post-operative cataract surgery patients and those with ocular diseases, such as glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Schultz is an active member of the Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, and Gold Key Optometric Society. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and her husband Chris. Her hobbies include fitness, traveling, tennis, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and reading.

I love connecting with people and educating them about their ocular health. I strive to give incredibly thorough eye care. How are you helping patients live their best lives? I carefully evaluate potential problem areas in patients' eyes and develop a care plan that is catered to them individually. What does providing a transformational eyecare experience mean to you? I love hearing patients tell me that they've never had such a thorough exam! I take the extra time to carefully educate patient How are you impacting your local community? I volunteer in our local elementary school and at our church. Hobbies/Interests: Being a mom to our three delightful little girls, hiking and camping, making music, reading (when I find time!)

Dr. Carol Schwan is a 1994 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she received honors in Low Vision and Pediatrics. She was also the recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Business Award. She pursued her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology at the University of Delaware and graduated with Honors. Dr Schwan has resided in Martinez, Ga for over 20 years where she has raised 3 sons. Dr. Schwan enjoys helping patients of all ages and takes pride in her attention to detail. On her days off Dr. Schwan enjoys hiking, tennis, college football and long days on the beach.

As a Doctor of Optometry, part of my commitment to my patients is ongoing professional education. As technology and the world around us changes, I have to keep up-to-date, because I have to provide the best care possible for your eyes. Undergraduate Education: Indiana University. Optometry School: Indiana University School of Optometry. How are you impacting your local community or helping your patients live their best lives? Providing comprehensive eye exams for adults and children, including glasses, contacts, and specialty vision items. I have a passion for helping children achieve their highest educational goals by not only correcting vision disorders but also working on correcting binocular visual dysfunction and encouraging visual integration and spatial reason. I manage ocular diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and retinal disorders, as well as closely monitor and maintain diabetic health care. Hobbies/Interests: Pageants, Rowing, Archery, Art, and playing with my dog, cats, and a bearded dragon. I am a mom to my two wonderful children, Scarlett and Malcolm, and a wife of 17 years.
