How are you impacting your local community or helping your patients live their best lives? I have loved the profession of Optometry since I was in undergrad, working for both Optometrists and opticals. I now provide comprehensive eye exams for adults and children, contact lens fittings, eye health, and ocular disease management. Hobbies/Interest: Reading, work puzzles and games, expressing my creative side with arts and crafts, playing with my dog, spending time with friends, and traveling to be with family.

From there, I developed a fascination for the human eye. That fascination combined with my desire to pursue a career where I could make a difference in people's lives, led me to optometry. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching TV, and traveling with my wife. My favorite part of helping my patients is being able to make a patient's life more enjoyable by helping them see better.

I am helping my patients live their best lives by optimizing their vision to the best of my ability and addressing their concerns to provide exceptional care and maintain their eye health. Hobbies/Interests: Trying new cuisines, watching movies, and traveling with friends and family.

Optometry School: Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University (MCPHSU) - graduated With honors in 2016. Professional Achievements and Associations: Member of American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, Beta Sigma Kappa (Optometric Honor Society). Clinical Certifications and Specialties: Residency at the Lexington Veteran Affairs Hospital - 2016-2017. Focus on Ocular disease, Low Vision and Polytrauma (with vision therapy elements). The reason I became an optometrist is: To help people see the world better. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Talking about all the options and possibilities that are available to each patient for their individual needs. In my spare time, I enjoy: Hiking, live music, the beach and snowboarding.

Helping individuals of all ages preserve and improve their sight has been extremely rewarding. I hope to continue to give back to the community by being at the forefront of their visual health. Hobbies/Interests: Tennis, music, and spending time with my family and friends.

Dr. Arndt earned his degree in optometry at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, a school known for its focus on state-of-the-art technologies. He was raised in Hampton and attended Old Dominion University where he studied civil engineering. He credits this training for his love of measuring and mapping the eye with precision when diagnosing and treating his patients. He is passionate about bringing advanced technologies and treatments to his practice. Dr. Arndt is an active supporter of Optometry Giving Sight and enjoys spending time with his wife and three grown children.

The reason I became an optometrist is: It sounds simple, but the noticeable improvement in my personal vision when I got glasses as a kid really stuck with me. Another one of my best memories was getting fitted into contact lenses when I was 13 years old and being able to see clearly again without having to wear glasses to play football and baseball. I wanted to be able to give that same experience to kids and adults alike. My favorite part of helping my patients is: I love seeing the joy on patient's faces when they put their new prescription glasses on, or put their contacts in, and they can see the world again clearly. I also truly enjoy seeing patient’s year after year and getting to know them and their families. In my spare time, I enjoy: Watching football, playing sports with my 2 kids, golfing, taking vacations to the mountains and hiking, and playing retro video games from the 1990's.

Professional Achievements and Associations Member of the American Optometric Association; Member of the Indiana Optometric Association; Awarded Ossip Optometry's Doctor of the Year in 2017. Clinical Certifications and Specialties: I enjoy treating glaucoma and fitting specialty contact lenses. The reason I became an optometrist is: I want to help people. I always wanted to go into the medical field, and optometry was the perfect field for me. My favorite part of helping my patients is: I love it when I can change someone's life by helping them to see better. I also enjoy getting to know my patients and developing lifelong relationships with them over the years. In my spare time, I enjoy: I love volleyball. I played in college and Optometry school. I also enjoy spending time with my 2 kids and attending their soccer games. My husband and I love taking trips, especially where we get to hike and be outdoors. Our favorite vacation spot to date is Banff, Canada.

The reason I became an optometrist is: Watching my sister struggle to read due to a vision issue made me aware of the impact good vision can have on a person's life. I want to be able to help people reach their full potential by helping them have the best vision possible. My favorite part of helping my patients is: Helping them enjoy life through good vision. In my spare time, I enjoy: Reading, knitting, and my dogs and cats.

Dr Sylvester Ayewoh earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the prestigious New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. He underwent extensive clinical training and rotations at renowned institutions such as The Boston Medical Center Ophthalmology Department, The Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Lowell, MA, The New England Eye Institute, and Eye Specialists of Georgia in Atlanta, GA. Dr Ayewoh is a dedicated professional member of esteemed organizations such as the Georgia Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, the Cornea and Contact Lens Section, and the Contact Lens Society of America. He has a keen interest and experience in treating and managing ocular diseases related to systemic conditions. He is strongly committed to ensuring easy and convenient access to quality eye care for all patients as needed. Dr Ayewoh's guiding principles and philosophy revolve around treating his patients as members of his extended family, providing them with personalized care marked by patience, compassion, respect, kindness, and dignity at all times. In his leisure time, he actively engages in community voluntary work, enjoys traveling, participates in government activities, and, most importantly, cherishes moments spent with his family.
